QF32 was the flight in which a catastrophic engine failure severely damaged an A380 shortly after take-off from Singapore. The firestorm of speculation and misinformation that erupted across social media networks as well as the mainstream media and business channels  before QF32 had even landed safely  back in Singapore highlighted  the need for coherent crisis management by the airline, ground authorities and regulators. This seminar is hosted in partnership with Qantas Airways and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB).

Australia's register of civil helicopters recently reached the 2,000 mark and continues to grow at a rate exceeding 10% per year. The inaugural AHIA Symposium will host the official launch of the Ka32 helicopter by Russian Helicopters in Australia. CASA award type certification in December 2012. It is the first ever Russian helicopter certified in Australia.

Commercial aviation is critical to national and international trade, transport and economic growth. Growth is not possible without mitigating the environmental impact of projected air traffic by the introduction of energy efficiency and low carbon fuel options.

To highlight the most promising near and medium term opportunities for the production of sustainable jet fuel, the Australian Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (AISAF) is hosting this Conference in partnership with Avalon 2013 and the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.
