Air Force provides air and space power for Australia's security. A modern expeditionary air force, it is the youngest of the three armed Services in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) but the second-oldest air force in the world.
Victoria's world-class defence industry is recognised as a major centre of Australian defence industry capability. It is highly competitive, both domestically and internationally, with proven capabilities in military vehicle manufacture and support, aerospace design and component manufacture, autonomous systems design, munitions production, and protective personal equipment design and manufacture.
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is constituted under the Defence Act 1903, its mission is to defend Australia and its national interests. In fulfilling this mission, Defence serves the Government of the day and is accountable to the Commonwealth Parliament which represents the Australian people to efficiently and effectively carry out the Government's defence policy.
