VOLUNTEERS

A major event such as the Avalon Australian International Airshow could not exist without the ongoing support of our community of volunteers. Our Volunteer community comes together every two years to be a part of this exciting and rewarding event. Avalon is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the world's premier aerospace and defence events. As a volunteer, you'll have the chance to engage with industry professionals, assist in various event operations, and contribute to creating an exceptional experience for attendees.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are passionate about aviation and eager to make a meaningful impact. Our volunteer crew positions are now live for Avalon 2025 and you can register by clicking here. Once you have set up a profile in our volunteer hub you can browse the platform, learn more about us, search and apply for roles.

If you have any enquiries, please contact us by emailing volunteers@amda.com.au

Volunteering Australia describes volunteering as 'time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain'.

Here at AMDA Foundation, becoming one of our volunteers is someone who joins our community and supports through contributing their time and skills to help us achieve our mission to promote the development of Australian Industries – those being Aviation, Space, Aerospace, Maritime, Defence and Security.

Currently we offer volunteer positions at our two airshows, these being Avalon International Airshow and Airshows Downunder Shellharbour.

You can register your interest by clicking here.

Due to the nature of our events, AMDA foundations involves volunteers from 16 years of age until 79 years and 11 months of age.

Any volunteer over 75 years of age must gain medical clearance from a doctor no more than 4 weeks prior to the event and send this through to the Event Crew Team.

For any of our volunteers who have supported our events for many years and have reached the age threshold – you will then gain exclusive access into the Friends of Airshow marquee.

There truly is something for everyone at our airshows, from customer service, to hospitality, admissions, to site operations and Aviation support.

You can register your interest in a certain function / department and our leads will review skills and experience to ensure we place all of our volunteers in the right role.

There is flexibility within the shifts, however some of our airshow days can be long.  Shifts can be from 5 hours – 12 hours. Please note down any requirements or accommodations required around shift times when registering your interest.

Absolutely – we require volunteers across the week at our events.  When registering you will be able to place in your availability.

Yes, the more the merrier.  However, you may not be able to be within the same department based on requirements for roles.

Once you have been accepted into a specific volunteer role, there is an online induction journey.  This journey supports you in understanding your role, safety onsite, AMDA policies and general event information.

All successful volunteers must obtain a current Working with Children’s Check before starting onsite with us. You can carry out this check free of charge via Services Victoria. When applying in the induction journey – we will offer further details with this process.

If you are an international volunteer we will review details and next steps with you.

There is no cost to registering your interest or becoming a volunteer with AMDA foundation.

By setting up a volunteer profile on our Volunteer HUB… you will have access to key updates from the business, volunteer opportunities and keeping in touch with our Volunteer Community.
