AVALON 2023 INNOVATION PROGRAM

The Avalon Innovation Program is an exciting initiative designed to encourage and reward innovation by Australian companies, research institutions and individuals via two main activities: the Avalon Innovation Awards and Innovation Pitchfest with Defence Science Institute.

The program is an initiative of AMDA Foundation Limited, organiser of Avalon and an Australian not-for-profit whose purpose is to promote the development of aviation and Australia’s industrial, manufacturing and technology resources in the fields of aviation, space, aerospace, maritime, defence and security.

Since the launch of the Innovation Awards program in 2012, AMDA Foundation has presented SME Innovation and Young Innovator Awards to a value of $585,000 via its suite of defence industry events: Avalon Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition, Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition and Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition.

AVALON INNOVATION AWARDS

Avalon organiser AMDA Foundation Limited launched the Innovation Awards ten years ago to recognise and reward local companies and individuals at the forefront of innovation. The Awards will be presented onsite at Avalon under three categories:

National Innovation Award
SME Innovation Award ($50,000 prize)
Young Innovator Award ($50,000 prize)

INNOVATION PITCHFEST

Innovation Pitchfest is a popular part of the Avalon program with presenters selected from the industry, research and academic sectors to deliver an elevator pitch to an audience of potential partners, customers and venture capital funding sources.

The pitchers are trained to deliver a succinct and compelling presentation to a panel of experts who award prizes in three categories:

Best Overall Pitch
Best Overall Innovation
Most Relevant to the Aerospace Domain

The Innovation Pitchfest is organised by the Defence Science Institute (DSI) in Melbourne.

AVALON INNOVATION AWARDS HISTORY

The Innovation Awards program announced by the AMDA Foundation Limited in 2012, was first awarded at AVALON 2013 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition and has directly addressed the operational and sustainment needs of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) as well as the civil and commercial aviation and maritime communities.
