GENERAL AVIATION AND AIRSPORT PRECINCT AT AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW AEROSPACE AND DEFENCE EXPOSITION 28 FEBRUARY - 5 MARCH 2023

Australian International Airshow Aerospace and Defence Exposition 2023 (AVALON 2023) for the AMDA Foundation Limited (AMDA) will be the fifteenth Airshow event held at Avalon Airport and will feature Australian and International aerobatic performers, a vast array of modern military hardware from the Australian Defence Force and overseas Air Arms, together with antique, classic, and experimental aircraft both in the air and on the ground.

For those who are familiar with the layout of the Australian International Airshow, AMDA are introducing a second public entrance into the event. This new entrance will be located south of the main Expo Halls that will provide another entry point for the increased numbers that are expected to attend over the three public days of the event on 3-5 March.

The General Aviation and Airsport Precinct continues to expand and evolve with many new associations, museums, and special interest invitees all eager to be involved. For AVALON 2023, we are expecting more than 40 Groups, associations, and individuals to display along with an ever-growing lineup of special interest invitees within this precinct.

For 2023, the General Aviation and Airsport Precinct is being located adjacent to the new entrance and as such will enjoy enhanced public exposure for their displays.

Invitations to participate in the General Aviation and Airsport Precinct have already been distributed to a wide array of associations and special interest groups. Many of those have already indicated their eagerness through their response to participate.

Enquiries, if you have not received an invitation and would like to be involved, should be directed to gaadmin@amda.com.au

AVALON 2023 will also see major changes for pilots wishing to fly their own aircraft to the event as Avalon East (YAVE), the temporary grass strip runway familiar to many, will no longer be available. With the non-availability of YMAV, pilots will have the opportunity to use the facilities afforded by Lethbridge Airport (YLED). Apart from using an established airport with both tarmac and grass runways, there will be a return coach service for Airshow Ticket Holders that will convey direct to the main entrance of the Airshow at Avalon. Lethbridge Airport will also be providing free camping at the airport for pilots and their passengers wishing to stop overnight or longer if required.
